We surely felt loved on the day of little man’s shower! I’ve been excited to share the images with y’all that Britney captured from the afternoon spent with my sweet family and girlfriends. From the paper products to the handmade details, there was a lot of thought put into the the shower, and I loved how it all turned out! Many of the items created for the shower are now hanging in the nursery…matching his bedding perfectly! What a beautiful afternoon. Thank you, friends! Remy is already so well loved…
When it came time to register I felt probably how most first time moms feel…quite overwhelmed. Who knew there was so much stuff out there for babies? It doesn’t take long before you envision your house overcome with gadgets and baby-gear a plenty. I didn’t want to find ourselves swimming through the chaos of baby gadgetry so I thought through our registry carefully. I decided on 3 places: Target and Babies R Us for the convenience of family and friends in town, and Amazon.com for those that prefer online ordering. Amazon also offers certain items we wanted but weren’t available at the other 2 stores. Here’s a rundown of the majority of items I decided upon… This first group includes the basics: crib, stroller, car seat and baby carrier. We wanted a crib that was made with real wood and found the harper cribcompliments the furniture we had for the nursery perfectly. As for the stroller, I really wanted a bassinet option. The uppa baby vista was exactly what I was looking to find. Our little one currently sleeps in the bassinet by our bed and loves going on walks in it. The Priori car seat had amazing reviews, and I liked the simple color and design – not too bulky or overwhelming. And lastly, the Beco Gemini also had great reviews (I compared it closely with the Beco Butterfly and the Ergo). It is a necessity for us because anywhere we go, we are wearing little man. He sleeps soundly in it every time. This second group includes smaller but equally necessary items that we use all the time:swaddle blankets (perfect weight for the summer, and we use them daily), boppy pillow(must have for feeding time), t.l. care organic cotton nursing pads (opposed to the disposable pads; this brand is my personal favorite), pacifier (a favorite comfort of little man’s), ameda breast pump(1/2 the price of Medela but received great reviews; works great), and peapod (perfect for travel, which happen later this month). This final group is all fun! When thinking of playtime I air on the idea of less is more. I don’t want a slew of cheap, plastic made-in-China toys taking over. I know we’ll have our fair share over the years but I also want well-made, thoughtful, and just plain cute options, too. I found different brands that met this criteria so I decided to register for a few of my favorites items from each: Skip Hop, 3 Sprouts, and Under the Nile. Be careful when searching…you might get sucked into the cuteness like I did ;)

I have listened time and again to the first album they made, and it’s wonderful! Jazz music with lyrics kiddos will enjoy over and over….mom and dad love it, too!What’s better? Handmade gifts and decorations are my favorite. It’s part about the gift and part about the time and thought that goes into it that shows how much you love someone. Any free time I have these days is spent sewing and crafting for a baby shower my friends and I are hosting at the end of this month. Before I had all the ideas in my mind of what I wanted to create I scoured pinterest pages and other blogs to find DIY crafts and projects. These are a few of the images that I was drawn to right away, and I love how their colors compliment one another. I’ll wait until after the shower to share photographs with you of all that we did to celebrate our future little monkey ‘nephew’.
